Nancy Muntner

Nancy Muntner is the Director of Medical Illustrations for the Neuroscience Education Institute. She earned a B.A. in Psychology at the University of California, San Diego, graduating summa cum laude. She has been working with Dr. Stahl as a medical illustrator and animator for nearly two decades. Her medical illustrations are instantly recognizable by students and practitioners of mental health and psychopharmacology.

Born in New York city, Nancy grew up in a creative family, as the daughter of a well known Hollywood screen writer. Ms Muntner herself is renown for her unique and widely acclaimed illustrations in all three editions of the best-selling textbook, Stahl's Essential Psychopharmacology. She has also illustrated the best-selling clinical manual, Essential Psychopharmacology Prescriber's Guide and several other books of psychopharmacology published with Dr. Stahl. Her illustrations appear as well in numerous journals, monographs and teaching materials, in several languages.

Ms. Muntner is also an accomplished animator of psychopharmacology. Her graphic designs range from Power Point based illustrations to full scale animated educational productions. Graphics and animations for lectures, courses and preceptorships based upon her illustrations in her various textbooks have been distributed as more than a million CD-ROMs, internet educational programs, videotapes, audiotapes and programmed home study texts for continuing medical education to hundreds of thousands of professionals in many different languages. Her graphics and illustrations are used by psychopharmacology teachers and students throughout the world.

These creative works have won Ms Muntner international recognition over her career, and numerous awards that she has shared with Dr. Stahl and with the Neuroscience Education Institute, including the International College of Neuropsychopharmacology (CINP) Lundbeck Foundation Award in Education for contributions to postgraduate education in psychiatry and neurology, and the American Psychiatric Association/San Diego Psychiatric Society Education Award.

Away from work, Nancy enjoys spending time with her family and her spoiled Maltese, Lucy.
